The Aragonese cyclists Fernando Barceló (Caja Rural) and Jorge Arcas (Movistar) resume the competition on Galician roads this Thursday on Galician roads. Galicia returns to the international cycling calendar with a professional tour (category 2.1, like the paralyzed Vuelta Aragón) that reappears on the scene after two decades of absence, now under the name of O Gran Camiño (The Great Road) and in which The Movistar team, after its setbacks with the Covid, will have the Murcian Alejandro Valverde.
For Fernando Barceló , it is one of the races that centralizes his interest and enthusiasm in this initial stretch of the season. He arrives in good form after passing through the Vuelta a la Comunidad Valencia, the Vuelta a Murcia and the classic Jaén Interior. For his part, Jorge Arcas will support Alejandro Valverde, one of the favorites for victory.
The company of former professional cyclist Ezequiel Mosquera has promoted this new competition with four stages on the ‘leg-breaker’ roads, with constant ups and downs, in Galicia.
Public institutions such as the Xunta de Galicia and the Provincial Councils have supported this round and also private companies.
In total there will be more than half a thousand kilometers through 45 municipalities in the four Galician provinces. Each one of them will host a stage and the first will take place in Pontevedra, with the starting point in O Porriño and the finish line in Vigo: 163 kilometres.
This first day will be flat for the most part and, with 23 kilometers to go, the runners will climb Peinador, in the third category, before reaching the sprint in the center of Vigo.
Later, it will pass through A Coruña, ending in the demanding Mirador do Ézaro, later it will go to Ourense with the queen stage and will finish on Sunday in the province of Lugo, specifically with a time trial in Sarria, one of the towns through which it passes the French Way to Santiago de Compostela.
